Candid Copious Circular

{edition 8}

No business likes to beg for sales, but I have seen maker after maker doing just that, it shows the desperation they are feeling to save their livelihoods.
Globally we are all feeling the pinch of inflation right now, but this is your gentle reminder why we MUST support our local businesses.

Why We Need to Support Local

1. If we don't support now, they might be gone next season.

2. They create joyful and fulfilling jobs in our community.

3. Small businesses are naturally eco-conscious. Maybe you can walk to them, or shop at a local market to avoid shipping, or most of us offer a pickup option!

4. Local Makers bring creativity into our lives, and our communities. They show us that 'Made in Canada' is still possible.

Frugal Ways to Support Local

1. If you are watching your pennies {I mean who isn't right now} shop
lower-priced items from your favourite vendors. A bar of soap, a scrunchie, a card, an art print, many makers have those under $20 or $30 items that help support us.

2. Send or ask for a Gift Card from your favourite local maker. You can support us and choose your own gift, what could be better?

3. Gift secondhand. This is a great way to get a fabulous gift while watching your bank account.
613 Flea always has a range of secondhand resellers, you will find that perfect thrifted gift at this market.

4. Make sure your holiday wish list is full of locally-made products. When you know parents, friends, or family will be shopping for you, direct them towards us!

If you need help finding local shop or maker to support, or just need help sparking a gift idea, you Copious Gal has you covered. Through my Maker Chat series you can find gift ideas while you learn more about the artists who make them or you can find a local shop in my Local Shop Guide, it is all organized by city.
