LISTENING TO

King Rat is Book 4 in this series. It wasn't my favourite, but I have a hard time not finishing a series, so I'm continuing in hopes that the producers of the Shogūn FX series will move forward with Season 2 because Book 2 was my favourite.

james baldwin go tell it on the mountain

READING

James Baldwin is one of my favourite authors, and 'Go Tell It on the Mountain' was an instant classic. This semi-autobiographical novel examines the Pentecostal Church's role in African Americans' lives. The beauty of Baldwin is his ambiguous style of writing, he doesn't spoon-feed you the story, he invites you to explore religion, sexuality, race, and family and the role they play in your life.

WATCHING

Cottage time means lots of scary movies. This genre can be hit or miss, some are so hacky, but 'Immaculate' was very good. It was spooky, had jump scares, and lots of religious imagery, plus each shot was incredibly beautiful, it was an art film at its core. Highly recommend!

DOING

Are you even enjoying summer if you don't support your local farmers market? Every summer I make sure to eat as much fresh fruit and veggies as I can. Plus read books, swim, enjoy the cottage, and slowly chip away at all my Fall production.

WORKING ON

In 2023 a dear friend got engaged, she and I met while we were both young women working at a restaurant while focusing on our career goals. She wore Copious on her first date with her now fiancé and I am so honoured that I got to make your wedding gown for her. It turned out beautifully, classic, with a vintage touch, just like her.
